DOES THERAPY WORK?
Yes, therapy can be helpful to anyone. Therapy allows you to learn new tools and techniques to utilize in your daily life and help you overcome your challenges. Therapy takes commitment and you have to be ready to be open to new perspectives and challenge yourself to break old habits and learn new skills in place of them. It takes both the therapist and the client to work with one another and sometimes that spark may not always come naturally and that's ok. I recognize that it can take a few sessions to build a trusting relationship. I do recognize that in some cases, therapy alone is not enough and other treatment options are needed.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN MY INITIAL SESSION?
During our first session, I will review intake paperwork that includes consent for treatment, cancellation policies, and your right to confidentiality during our sessions. I will collect some history to get to know you better. We'll discuss why you have sought therapy, and we will both decide together on next steps as we formulate therapeutic goals we would like to accomplish.
HOW LONG ARE OUR SESSIONS?
The initial session will take approximately 60 minutes. Each session after that will last between 50-60 minutes, depending on your need. Sessions can be done on a weekly basis or once every two weeks until you reach your therapeutic goals. Longer sessions can be accommodated based on treatment goals. Please see rates for the difference in costs related to session lengths.
CAN I STILL DO THERAPY IF I AM BEING PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS FOR MY SYMPTOMS?
Absolutely! It is important for me to be aware of any medications you are currently on or have been on in the past. During our sessions, I will ask about compliance and how effective they are for you. I may ask that a release of information be completed for your prescribing provider to allow us to collaborate as a team to better address your needs when appropriate. Please note that I would never make contact with your prescribing physician without discussing with you first and I would only do it if it was in your best interest.
How do I schedule an appointment?
A 15-minute consultation is offered at no cost to ensure we are a good fit prior to scheduling your first appointment. click here to request a consultation.
